Ben Kweller
Ben Kweller first came to Schubas as a member of the band Radish on May 10, 1997. Opening for Dash Rip Rock alongside Fastball, this would be the last time Radish would have occasion to visit us, as the band would break up the next year and never release a sophomore album.
Ben went on to move to New York, play acoustic live shows and release a series of EPs which garnered the attention of Evan Dando of the Lemonheads. The two toured America and Europe together and, in 2001, Dave Matthews signed Kweller to his own ATO Records.
BK returned to Schubas touring behind his debut solo full-lenghth, Sha Sha. Two shows with Webb Brothers and Adam Green on the eighth and ninth of August, 2002, left little doubt in the minds of audience members that Ben, just 20 years old at the time, would be an artist to watch for years to come.
Ben has gone one to release two subsequent solo albums, On My Way and Ben Kweller (on which he plays all instruments heard), and an EP titled Sundress. He also recorded an EP and toured with The Bens, a supergroup of sorts made up of Ben Folds, Ben Lee, and Mr. Kweller himself.
We eagerly await the next chapter in the saga of Ben Kweller and Schubas, as Ben will return on July 25th, 2007 for what promises to be a memorable evening.
