Bright Eyes

Conor Oberst, best known under the nome de plume Bright Eyes, has played the hallowed Schubas music room on two memorable occasions. We first met Bright Eyes on January 7th of 2000, for a show with Shannon Wright and Waterworks. Supporting Letting Off the Happiness, this was the tour which introduced Bright Eyes to the world. Conor returned in September of 2001 supported by Simon Joyner, just as Fevers & Mirrors was catapulting Bright Eyes into the public eye and ear. Since then, Conor has gone on to tour with Bruce Springsteen and R.E.M., duet with Neil Young, have two albums in the Billboard Top 40 at the same time, and appear on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Bright Eyes won Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for "When the President Talks to God" at the PLUG Independent Music Awards and a Special Recognition Award for the video for "First Day of My Life" at the 17th Annual GLAAD Media Awards. Additionally, Time listed I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning as one of the top ten albums of 2005. With credentials like those, Bright Eyes has garnered a fan base much larger than capacity at sweet home Schubas, but believe us when we say we're proud to have hosted Bright Eyes while we had the chance.
