Broken Social Scene

On August 1st, 2003, Broken Social Scene played Schubas' Summer On Southport festival in support of their acclaimed record You Forgot It In People. The band, whose ever-changing lineup included Kevin Drew, Brendan Canning, Justin Peroff, Andrew Whiteman, Charles Spearin, Jason Collett, Evan Cranley and Leslie Feist at the time, went on the win that year's Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year. They have since grown to an even more impressively staffed collective, many members of which have also found success with solo projects (Emily Haines, Andrew "Apostle of Hustle" Whiteman, Amy Millan, Leslie Feist) and seperate bands (Charles Spearin (Do Make Say Think), Emily Haines and James Shaw (Metric), Lisa Lobsinger (Reverie Sound Revue), Julie Penner (The FemBots, Do Make Say Think, Hylozoists, The Weakerthans), Amy Millan (Stars). They appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien on January 31, 2006 to perform their song "7/4 (Shoreline)," and their music served as the score to the Oscar-nominated film "Half Nelson." Broken Social Scene has also been selected to compose an original score the film adaptation of Maureen Medved's novel The Tracey Fragments. The future is bright for Broken Social Scene, and Schubas is proud to have been a part of their past.
