Feist
Leslie Feist, known simply as Feist in her solo doings, stopped by for two shows on September seventh (with Nedelle) and eighth (with Great Lake Swimmers) of 2005. It was a big year for Feist, with a Juno nomination for Video of the Year along with Juno wins for Alternative Album of the Year for Let It Die and New Artist of the Year. Feist has also recorded and performed as a member of fellow Schubas Hall of Fame members Broken Social Scene, with whom she has won two Juno Awards: Alternative Album of the Year for You Forgot It In People (2003) and for the collective's self-titled sophomore release. Feist has also contributed vocals to works by Kings of Convenience, Apostle of Hustle, and Jane Birkin. Her fourth solo album, The Reminder, (2007), hit #16 on The Billboard Top 200 and #2 on the Canadian album charts. Feist was kind enough to sign a press photo which had been hanging in the Schubas office. As seen to the left, the message reads "For Schubas - for my first 2 (of many?) nights here. Thanks, Feist." Little did she know that the world would catch on to her music so quickly that, just two years later, our music room would only accomodate a fraction of her fans in Chicago. Though we've never had the pleasure of hosting Leslie Feist again, everyone in attendance will always remember those two incredible nights in September.
