Norah Jones
Geethali Norah Jones Shankar (known professionally as Norah Jones) visited the Schubas music room on January 15, 2002, just 1 month and 11 days before the release of her debut album
Come Away With Me. That album went on to sell over 10 million copies and garner Norah five Grammy Awards, including "Record Of The Year" and "Best New Artist," along with spots on scores of critical year-end "Best Of" lists. Since then, Norah Jones has gone on to release two full-lengths (2004's
Feels Like Home and 2007's
Not Too Late), an EP (2001's
First Sessions), three DVDs (
Live in New Orleans in 2003,
Live in 2004, and
Live from Austin, TX in 2008), and has appeared in four feature films. These days she sells out arenas, but we're very proud to have hosted Norah Jones when we could- the window of opportunity to hear Norah in a small venue like ours was fleeting and whether through luck, a stellar booking staff, or a combination of the two, we mentioned to capture her star in its ascent.
