The Decemberists

If you had to invent the perfect fledgling band to play a show at Schubas, with its fabled folk history and rock-solid indie foundation, the band would probably sound a lot like The Decemberists. We first hosted them on the first of November, 2003, for a show which went so well that when they returned 5 months later they headlined two consecutive nights and brought the house down. Lead Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist Colin Meloy stopped by once more for a solo show in January of 2005, just a month after announcing that The Decemberists had hit the big time, signing to Capitol Records. They've since gone on to attain widespread success and accolades, including National Public Radio listeners voting The Crane Wife the best album of 2006.
