The Fiery Furnaces Duo Show

Schubas has hosted Matthew and Eleanor Friedberger, the brother-sister duo of The Fiery Furnaces in November of 2003. Shortly after the release of their first album Gallowsbird Bark, we caught them early in what would become a prolific and interesting career. Though Gallowsbird Bark was received with critical acclaim, it only hinted at the ambition to come. They have since released four albums of sometimes accessible, usually experimental music. Leaning towards the concept album, as with 2004's Blueberry Boat and 2005's Rehearsing My Choir, on which the siblings' Grandmother provides the lion's share of vocals. Matthew Friedberger has also released two albums worth of solo material. The Furnaces will release their latest record, Widow City, in October of 2007, adding one more piece to a musical puzzle Schubas is proud to have been a part of.
