The Shins
Long before they changed lives on the Garden State soundtrack or saw their third album debut at number two on the Billboard charts with an incredible 118,000 records sold, the Shins sent an advance copy of their first album, Oh, Inverted World, in a simple cardboard sleeve hoping to book a gig at Schubas. Needless to say, it was impressive. The Shins were invited to headline their first show at Schubas, which they played to a sell-out crowd, on August 24th, 2001. Just under than a year later they returned to play our 2002 Summer on Southport festival, filling the parking lot with over 900 fans. From 200 fans at Schubas to hundreds of thousands across the world, The Shins' early shows with us proved to be indicative of just how widely loved the band would become.
