Last year, this event raised nearly two-thousand dollars despite blizzard conditions. Prior to last year, Bumpus hosted the event under its own name, but, singer/bandleader James Johnston wanted to do something more. "The Meters are my favorite band from New Orleans and they have had a tremendous influence over all musicians who appreciate soul music. They were true pioneers and all of the musicians who will be performing are just happy to be able to play some of these songs live. We hope this concert raises awareness and money to give New Orleans performers the opportunity to continue making their own music in their hometown."

Proceeds to benefit New Orleans Habitat Musicians’ Village. After Hurricanes Katrina and Rita ravaged New Orleans, hundreds of musicians were forced to flee the city as their homes were destroyed by floodwaters. In 2005, New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity joined forces with New Orleans natives Harry Connick, Jr. and Branford Marsalis and conceived the Musicians’ Village. The Musicians' Village will consist of 72 single-family, Habitat-constructed homes for displaced New Orleans musicians and other qualifying Habitat partner families. Its centerpiece will be the Ellis Marsalis Center for Music, dedicated to celebrating the music and musicians of New Orleans and to the education and development of its nearby residents. The Musicians’ Village provides a community for both the artists who have defined the city’s culture and the sounds that have shaped the musical vernacular of the world. Money raised from "The Sophisticated Cissies" tribute to The Meters at Schubas will be donated to New Orleans Habitat Musicians’ Village for the construction of the Ellis Marsalis Center for Music.
