Laura Doherty teaches and is the director of the Old Town School of Folk Music's wildy-popular Wiggleworms program for toddlers in Chicago. Armed with her acoustic guitar, and an ear for a catchy melody, she gets kids and families movin' and groovin' to her original kid-friendly pop tunes. Her brand-new kids CD, "Kids in the City" which released in May, contains original songs for the "urban kid" She sings about the El train, skyscrapers, elevators, the farmer's market and more! The CD is partially supported by a cultural arts grant that Laura was awarded from the City of Chicago.

Laura has recorded on several children's CDs, including: Parent's Choice award-winning Songs for Wiggleworms released in 1999. In 2005 she co-produced and performed on the follow-up CD Wiggleworms Love You, also a Parent's Choice Award winner. In 2008, Laura recorded vocals on several songs written by nationally-acclaimed kids artist Ralph Covert (of Ralph's World), for the Disney Sound label. These songs are now being sung and enjoyed by students at the Disney English School that recently opened in China. Laura can be seen from time to time playing bass in the kids rock band the Swing Sets in Chicago.
