L’ALTRA is the stormy collaboration of singer-guitarist JOSEPH COSTA and singer-keyboardist LINDSAY ANDERSON.

Coming out of their respective corners, the duo have composed and recorded their fourth studio album, TELEPATHIC. The songs, initially crafted by the two artists in separate locations, artistically come together on TELEPATHIC to form a swirling yet subtle and beautifully mysterious whole.

L'ALTRA was formed in Chicago in 1999 and has released three albums and a self-titled EP previously on Aesthetics Records and Hefty Records. Their moody melodies, intimate vocals and sweeping, orchestral arrangements gained the band international recognition up to their last release, Different Days (Hefty) in 2004. At this point, co-founders Costa and Anderson decided to take a break and each went on to record and release individual albums.

An impromptu invitation to tour Japan in 2008 brought Anderson and Costa together again and contemplating a fourth album. Working with Manny Sanchez of Chicago-based studio IV LAB, Anderson and Costa called on a familiar cast of friends and a few new ones including Josh Eustis (Telefon Tel Aviv), Charles Rumback (Colorlist, Via Tania, Leafbird), Josh Abrams (Iron & Wine, Will Oldham), Marc Hellner (pulseprogramming), and Darren Garvey (Cameron McGill, Andreas Kapsalis).

TELEPATHIC boasts the traditional L'Altra arrangements of piano, Wurlitzer and guitar coupled with subtle electronics, steady rhythms and the intimate call-and-response musings of Lindsay and Joe. Yet, while the sounds and pieces are familiar, upon closer inspection one sees the L'Altra story continuing to unfold.
