Person L is the brainchild of the incomparable, Kenneth Vasoli. Vasoli, 23, has spent the better part of the past decade building quite a name for himself as the singer and songwriter of the Starting Line. With a career that most would view as a stunning success – selling over 700k records worldwide, sold out tours spanning 4 continents, major label backing – Vasoli was simply not fulfilled in the melodic punk world that the band helped establish. He became enthralled by different musical genres, building an eclectic horizon that slowly brought him to the realization that it was time for him to leave all he had known and make a change.
A solo-acoustic project that evolved to include an eclectic group of people, Brian Bonz and The Dot Hongs has been recognized as “the best of Brooklyn’s experimental rock scene” (KEXP) creating “wistful, intensely precious indie pop” (Time Out). Drawing influence from a far-reaching variety of genres and musicians including Sam Cooke, Bjork and Broken Social Scene, the group embodies an indie-rock persona without becoming bound by it.
Singer/songwriter John Nolan began his musical career as the lead guitarist for Taking Back Sunday, helping to secure the band's place in the alternative rock spotlight before moving on to form Straylight Run in 2003. Guided by John's pensive, piano-driven songwriting and open, introspective lyrics, Straylight Run released its self-titled debut in 2004 on Victory Records, following up with critically-acclaimed releases Prepare to Be Wrong EP (2005), The Needles The Space (2007) and Un Mas Dos EP (2008). Straylight Run has toured alongside bands such as Motion City Soundtrack, Minus the Bear and Rooney, and their new EP, About Time, is set for release in 2009.
